Land Survey Technician / Drafter

Phelps Engineering, Inc. (PEI) is a progressive land development and public infrastructure civil engineering and land surveying design firm. We are located in Olathe, KS (Kansas City area) which is one of the regions fastest growing areas.

We are seeking a technician / drafter to join our land surveying division. Position involves preparing and drafting surveys, legal descriptions, easement exhibits, house plot plans. The successful applicant will be a self-starter, motivated to meet internal deadlines and possess the ability to clearly communicate with other team members. Must have strong math skills, computer skills, and ability to work well with others in a team environment.  In addition to a strong technical skill set, the position requires basic proficiency with Microsoft office applications and AutoCAD.

Specific job tasks include:

·         Preparing survey drawings including boundary, topographical, ALTA surveys

·         Writing legal descriptions and calculating closure / areas

·         Preparing easement descriptions and legal description exhibits

·         Calculating and setting point files for field crews for construction staking.

·         Preparing house plot plans

Requirements
High School Diploma and 1 to 2 years of experience in land surveying field with ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of land survey principles.  Must have strong math skills and understanding of AutoCAD.   Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred but not required.  LSIT or LS is also preferred, but not required.

Wages are commensurate with experience and skill set.
